“The Castle”, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Padró/Padró Images, All Rights Reserved Located in Southern Utah, Capitol Reef National Park preserves the 100-mile-long wrinkle of earth known as The Waterpocket Fold, and features classic Colorado Plateau scenery: eroded jumble of colorful cliffs, sinuous canyons, massive domes, sandstone spires, and graceful arches. One of the park’s most recognizable features is known as The Castle, conveniently located close to the visitors center. Eye level views of The Castle can also be had from the Freemont Gorge Overlook Trail. To geologists, The Castle is a great example of different layers of sandstone (like Wingate or Kayenta) stacked on top of each other. Picture of…”The Crags”

Padro, All Rights Reserved One of my favorite things to do is combine photography with exercise, so whenever I am in an urban area I look for nearby places where I can take my camera for a walk or hike. The picture here shows the Salisbury Crags, known locally as “The Crags,” a series of jagged red cliffs located on the West side of Edinburgh, Scotland. The Crags themselves are within the 640-acre Holyrood Park, and their dramatic profile can be seen from miles away.
