“The Castle”, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Padró/Padró Images, All Rights Reserved Located in Southern Utah, Capitol Reef National Park preserves the 100-mile-long wrinkle of earth known as The Waterpocket Fold, and features classic Colorado Plateau scenery: eroded jumble of colorful cliffs, sinuous canyons, massive domes, sandstone spires, and graceful arches. One of the park’s most recognizable features is known as The Castle, conveniently located close to the visitors center. Eye level views of The Castle can also be had from the Freemont Gorge Overlook Trail. To geologists, The Castle is a great example of different layers of sandstone (like Wingate or Kayenta) stacked on top of each other. From the Road: It’s all in the details

Padro, All Rights Reserved As a travel photographer, it’s important that I capture a variety of a location’s subjects so that, as a whole, the images give the viewer a good idea of what visiting the place is like. This means photographing wide-angle (establishing) shots; medium distance shots; and detail shots. Common detail subjects include souvenirs, food, drinks, architectural details, clothing, and so on. Because detail images are usually printed small, they should be colorful, graphic, and simple, to insure they are easy to see and “understand”. From the Road: Soaked in Scotland

I have been in Scotland for 8 days and have faced overcast skies, wind, cold, and even volcanic dust. What to do when the weather does not cooperate with my plans?
